It is the law enacted by the Parliament under the Australian Constitution. If you can't accept that then you don't accept the fundamentals of what Australia is and what it stands for." He suggested that if someone wanted to live under Sharia law [law derived from the Koran], Saudia Arabia and Iran should be considered. Then he added, "Before becoming an Australian you will be asked to subscribe to certain values. If you have strong objections to those values don't come to Australia.Updated 8/15/06

Earlier this week Prime Minister John Howard alsoaddressed Islamic extremism, saying it violated Australia's principles. He pointed to contentious issues such as relations with non-Muslims and therights of women.
Australian Muslims have reacted with anger to both sets of comments. They accuse the government of beingde liberately inflammatory and divisive.
Keysar Trad, president of the Islamic Friendship Association of Australia, says Costello's comments are unnecessary. "He is singling out the Muslim communityagain," he said. "Rather than calling on all citizensto respect the law of the land and respect traditional values, he is making an inference in his comments that Muslims don't do that. Well, on the contrary, Muslims do respect the law of the land and do respect the values of this country."
There are around 300,000 Muslims in Australia.
Community leaders say racism toward this minority group has increased since the terrorist attacks in theUnited States in September 2001 and the bombings ont he Indonesian island of Bali a year later, in which Australian tourists were targeted.

Please, let's stop playing the race card and being prejudice before this country gets deeper into division. We are a country of multi-racial people. There are no pure African Americans, or one pure race of Latinos, or one pure race of Asians. It seems the closer we are in race the more we dislike eachother. Take for example the Muslims and Jews. IS GOD A REP OR A DEM?

Joshua asks Christ the same question many are asking today. The Republicans will claim God is on their side, and some Democrats will claim God is on their side, but the answer is NAY. The real question is not which party God affiliates himself with, because as it is later stated, God is no respect of faces (he does not value one above another), but what party affiliates itself with God. Unfortunately, neither party can claim that they support God fully, and for this reason, it comes down to individuals, not parties. There are many aspects of the Political process that leave God out all together. The slander, mud slinging, back door dealings, and corruption that has become common in the political realm leave one dazed. This is simply more evidence that each candidate should be looked at on his or her merits, and personal position on each issue, not the letter listed beside their name. In many respects, George Washington was wise beyond his days when he suggested that there be no political parties, just individual candidates. This is how God views politics, he looks into the heart of the individual, not their party. However, can it be said that during any one point in history one party is closer to the path of God? Certainly God was not in favor of slavery, and in the same respect, he does not favor Gay Marriage or Abortion, so there is some merit to this point. All in all, I would have to say that God is not in favor of either party, and as I stated earlier, the question is, which party is in favor of God. From the looks of things, maybe God will abstain this time around.

Thirteen Tips to Better sleep

1. Get up and go to bed at the same time each day, even on weekends. A regular sleep schedule helps you get better sleep and can even improve your mood.
2. Tidy up. Coming back to an unmade bed and messy room at night can be stressful. Which is the last thing you want when you're trying to wind down.

3. Create a sleep oasis. Is your bedroom calm and comfortable? Everything from the paint color on your walls to the quality of your pillow can affect your sleep.

4. Switch to decaf in the afternoon. It takes hours for the effects of caffeine to wear off, so try to have your last cup 6-8 hours before bedtime. Try peppermint or lemon tea for a pick-me-up that won't keep you up later.

5. Get some exercise. Working out regularly has been shown to help you sleep better and longer. Late afternoon is an ideal time. Before beginning or modifying an exercise program, consult with your doctor.

6. Stock up on bedtime snacks. Small portions of high-carb foods like bread or cereal, or foods that contain typtophan, like bananas, milk or peanuts can help induce sleep.

7. Leave work at work. Before you leave work, make a to-do list for tomorrow. It will help keep your mind clear when you're trying to sleep.
8. Take a warm bath. A bath can be a relaxing nighttime ritual. Just be sure to cool off before you get into bed. Cool temperature's are better to sleep.

9. Skip the nightcap. Alcoholic beverages may help you fall asleep: they also make it harder to stay asleep. Wind down with some herbal tea instead.

10. Don't work in bed. Or watch TV or eat or sort through your mail. Your bed should be associated only with sleep and relaxation.

11. Use the 30 minute rule. If you can't fall asleep within a half hour, get up. Go to another room and relax by reading or listening to music until you get sleepy.

12. Breath deep. If you can't sleep, try some deep breathing. Feel your stomach rise and fall. Count as you inhale . This helps you relax by placing your attention on your breath.

13. Say your prayers. It is a wonderful quite time to take advantage of communicating with the Lord God.

HISTORY OF SAINT PATRICK

Saint Patrick was a Christian missionary and the Apostle of Ireland. He was born around 385 AD near Dumbarton in Scotland the son of a Roman nobleman. His real name is believed to have been Maewyn Succat; his baptismal name is Patricius. He was just 16 when his village was attacked. He was captured and sold into slavery in Ireland where he worked as a shepherd. After six years of being beaten and treated poorly, he escaped to Gaul (present day France). He returned to Ireland as a missionary where he is credited for converting the population to Catholicism.

Patrick was quite successful at winning converts. And this fact upset the Celtic Druids. Patrick was arrested several times, but escaped each time. He traveled throughout Ireland, establishing monasteries across the country. He also set up schools and churches which would aid him in his conversion of the Irish country to Christianity.

Some of this lore includes the belief that Patrick raised people from the dead. He also is said to have given a sermon from a hilltop that drove all the snakes from Ireland. Of course, no snakes were ever native to Ireland, and some people think this is a metaphor for the conversion of the pagans. Though originally a Catholic holy day, St. Patrick's Day has evolved into more of a secular holiday.

His mission in Ireland lasted for thirty years. After that time, Patrick retired to County Down. He died on March 17 in AD 461. That day has been commemorated as St. Patrick's Day ever since

The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for over a thousand years. On St. Patrick's Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. Lenten prohibitions against the consumption of meat were waived and people would dance, drink, and feast—on the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage.

We have banks that have failed due to evil greed. We have 70% of the population who call themselves Christian's but don't believe the Bible is the true Word of God, and say there are many roads to get to heaven. We have television shows, movies and music that scream pornography. We have no justice in our courts. We have kids having kids and no way to support them. Our science messes with stem cell research and can now create their own babies. We have children with sexually transmitted diseases in the 8th grade, and they are not ashamed of it. They have sex in the bathrooms and under the desks. We have many people with no or little conscience.. We have adults that keep buying things they can't afford to pay for, and think it's OK. Oh, but wait just a minute, I forgot they can file bankruptcy. AND now we are leaving our kids, and their kids, and their kids, with a debt they will never be able to pay. Oh! And Christians are not allowed to pray because it may offend an atheist.

IS IT TOO LATE FOR CHANGE?

We wonder why our children have no respect, boundaries or moral code.
Or why so many people lack a conscious for wisdom that God bestowed.
Our leaders, congress and government officials are derelict in behavior.
We put faith in them or rely on our own understanding looking for a Savior.
We are amiss for not teaching our children the principles of integrity honor and truth.
We are guilty of greed, sexual perversion, and abortion instead of helping our youth.
Our two party systems are failing because everyone wants to tear each other apart.
Both democrats and republicans have worthwhile agendas so we need to take heart.
Arnold Schwarzenegger stated when he became governor it was no longer just Me but We.
Our officials need to hear the people and put party affiliations aside agreeing to disagree.
Staunch democrats and republicans are not open or willing to change their positions.
Even if they know their party is wrong they stand firm because of their ambitions.
Since government is fallible, so too, are the laws of the land.
Christians respect authority we acknowledge it and understand.
But if public officials go against God’s laws we cannot follow their way.
We do not judge our brother as Jesus sits on the throne and for them we pray.
Validation from God’s Word tells us that we are living in the Birth Pangs of Revelation.
The end of days is about a one-world government and the anti-christ’s organization.
Our God is the Alpha and Omega and He wants you to give Him your soul.
So it is never to late to change the hearts of men because God is in control.

Does God Exist? - complex question...simplistic answer

God: Does He Exist?

God may not be provable through mathematical formulae or properties of physics, but we live in an era where the evidence of God is all around us. God - A brief summary of the key arguments:

Order... God provides the best explanation for abstract notions, such as numbers, formulas and properties.
Causation. God provides the best explanation for the existence of the universe and all that is in it.

Newsweek magazine has published a lengthy article stating that the Bible supports homosexual marriage. The article was written Lisa Miller, Newsweek religion editor. Miller's article is one of the most biased and distorted pieces concerning homosexual marriage ever published by any major news organization. The article is much too long for this e-mail. Because fetal 'tissue' is in demand and preserving it is difficult, some partial birth abortion doctors are now, over-dilating the women so they have their babies early on the second day, in the motel room. The women and their living babies are brought to the clinic and the baby is not killed until the sales representative arrives to pick him/her up. Then, the doctor quickly strangles or drowns the baby and delivers it to the messenger who sells the 'tissue' to pharmaceuticals and other companies who use 'fetal tissue'. The advantage here is to deliver very fresh 'tissue' to the companies. Thus, the abortionist can make $3000 to $5000 for the partial birth abortion and quite a bit of extra bucks on selling the baby's body for 'fetal tissue research'. This information was obtained from Michael Crutcher's new video magazine. A woman who worked as a pickup messenger for 'fetal tissue' is interviewed on this video. Good friends are hard to come by in a world of superficial acquaintances and shallow relationships."Hanging with the crowd" can give us a false sense of belonging, but often leaves us wounded and alone in times of trouble. Open, honest, supportive, and loving relationships don't happen without investment. Ask the Lord to lead you to close friends in his family. Minister to and serve those around you. Listen to their requests, faithfully upholding them in prayer. Spend time in Christian service with other servant believers. Join yourself to a Bible study or accountability group. As you do, trust that God will give you that "stick-through-thick-and-thin-friend." Companions are easy to find, but can be unreliable. Development of Christian friends is an investment of effort and time, but they are friends with whom we will share forever.

A CALL TO CHRISTIANS

CHRISTIANS MUST STAND TALL

As Christians we must continue to stand tall.
Though the rule of decency crumbles and falls.
We live in turbulent and unpredictable times.
With chaotic behavior and horrendous crimes.
Boundaries are not respected and people are uncouth.
They have lost their way and can’t tell the lies from truth.
Religions now follow whatever it is that man desires.
Faith hope and charity is not what their heart inspires.

ATHEISM

Some atheists believe that life is a power and energy of their own will and mind. (Ps.14:1)
They credit a magnetic field of the universe or a force that is not easily defined.

They completely discredit the history of the Bible and mock those who believe.
They give credence to medians and psychics, or karma, for what they will achieve. (Lev.20:27)

They believe you live and die, and that is all there is, and claim to be satisfied. (Ecc.3:11)
Some atheists are evil and their horrific crimes tells us they are very unsatisfied.

If you put pieces of a camera in a box and shook it for a million years, or infinity, do you think when you opened the box the camera would put it self together just by chance? Well, that is what the big bang theory teaches.

If you consider the human body down to the smallest particle known to man you will see that everything has a purpose and master plan from an intelligent designer. That designer left us with his name, address, and phone number. If you don’t know him you are missing out on an incredible journey of love like you have never known.

His name is – God, in Hebrew it is Yahweh.
His address is – Heaven, all you have to do is look at the beauty around you.
His phone number is – The Bible, it’s a wireless call.

Thank you Lord, you are an awesome God who is wondrously divine.

Open letter to my Christian friends...

To my Christian friends:

There are troubles all over the world. For those of us in Christ we need not fear:

We are the witnesses of the "Birth Pains" that is spoken of in Revelation, prior to the rapture. I long for Revelation. chapter 21:1 - "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea." And the last verse: (27) "And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life."

Romans 13:1 tell us "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God." In 1 Timothy 2:1-2 we are told, "Exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving thanks, be made for all men; For Kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty."

Time is short and will only get worse. This country and the world over are on a downward spiral. I don't know why God put President elect Obama in power, but He did, and we need to respect that. If America falls and is taken down to her knees than that is a good thing. When civilizations lose their sense of morals, they all fall. I just pray for the days to be cut short. I read where 54% of Catholics voted for Obama (much to the regret of the Bishops who do not condone abortion). Voting for Obama was, and is not a race issue - it was a moral issue for Christians and conservatives. It's a scary world we live in. We will be leaving a mess to our kids and grandkids that they may never clean up. But as Christians our hope is not in this world. We have a heavenly home and await our King Jesus. We need not fear. I pray for President elect Obama and the world over. I pray for Jesus to cut the days short and come soon!

Subject: Regarding Security

To The White House:

Although I am a conservative republican and did not vote for Mr. Obama I am can not help but be excited that an African American will be in the White House. I have lived through the Civil Rights Era and my husband was in Viet Nam. Those were bad times for our nation and now we will be be facing even harder times.

I implore the powers to be from the Secret Service to the CIA and, FBI. to not drop the ball in security as it did with 9/11. Please protect Mr. Obama and his family. I also implore the democratic party not to drop the Patriot's Act because we need that system more than ever. If we had it in place before 9/11 that horror would never have happened. Thank you and be blessed.

He Is The Word - Scriptural Poetry That Answers Biblical Questions

Hello,
My name is Estelle and I have just created this blog. I also have a website, www.Heistheword.com. I am a published author of, He Is The Word, through Publish America. Any royalties I make from my book go to The American Bible Society. I write poetry. I teach English as a second language as a volunteer, and I also volunteer for the Red Cross.

Now that the elections are over we can all take a deep breath and move on. As a Christian who trusts in God's Word as truth I don't put my faith in people. In Romans 13:1 we are told "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God."
